Transition to a creative career — one week at a time.

Beacon · starter designs

Nine finished sites. Pick one, and it is yours by teatime.

A starter is a whole website, not a blank theme: every page written, every section already wired to the shop, the bookings and the mailing list. Install one onto your own deck, answer a couple of questions, and start replacing our words with yours.

How a starter actually works

Three things worth knowing before you choose one.

  • It installs from Beacon, onto your own deck

You choose a design inside your own editor and it writes the whole site — pages, sections, colours and type — onto the deck you already pay for. There is nothing to download, no theme to buy and no developer in the middle.

  • It only lands on an empty site

A starter writes a complete site, so it will not overwrite one. Once yours has pages on it, the Customiser changes the colours and typefaces and patterns change the structure — page by page, with nothing thrown away.

  • Afterwards it is a normal site, not a template

There is no locked layout and no upgrade to a pro version. Every section a starter puts down is one you can edit, move or delete, and the site stays yours if you never touch a starter again.

About the pictures, and the pictures in them

Two things we would rather say up front than be asked.

  • The artwork is drawn, not licensed

Seven of the nine ship original artwork generated from their own palette — no photograph, no stock library, no scraped asset, so there is no licence to breach when a design is copied onto your deck. Emporium is the exception and says so: its department photography is Damian's own, from Coast & Country Crafts, and travels with the starter by his permission. The blue Bobbin & Brush ships no imagery at all, and still looks finished.

  • The products and the dates are invented

A shop section loads its stock from your own engine and a workshop list shows your own dates, so these screenshots were taken against a sample catalogue and sample dates. What you are looking at is the real block doing its real job — the stock in it is a stand-in for yours.

Every edition includes the whole starter library

The designs are not an add-on and there is no per-template charge: a design is installed from Beacon, onto your own deck, as often as you like while the site is still empty. Pick the edition that carries the money-maker you need and the library comes with it.
